Göreme – Çavuşin – Paşabağ – Zelve

Characteristics of the Route:

The route, which bears the traces of an adventure of faith, descends to Cavusin on dirt roads with a gentle slope. After a short tour in Cavusin, a town bearing the traces of a long adventure of culture in its nostalgic streets with its magnificent panorama, houses, churches, and mosques carved into the rock, the route ascends to a magnificent view from the side of the Seljuk Mosque carved in rocks. After an enjoyable, heart-pounding descent, the route passes by the three-headed fairy chimneys and goes towards Zelve Archeological Site. Zelve, a settlement in red fairy chimneys hosting visitors as an open-air museum, tells us about Anatolia with the mosque and monastery standing opposite each other in the village square.

Notes to Travelers:

You can visit the Seljuk Mosque in Cavusin Town, the charming "historical house" on the cobblestone road that goes up by the mosque, and St. John the Baptist Chapel, which you will reach after a few minutes' walk at the end of the road.You can have pleasant moments on the plateau above St. John the Baptist Chapel, which offers wonderful photos with its impressive view.

You can visit Devrent Valley on the route, free of charge.

You can try one of the restaurants with different styles in Cavusin.

You can find beverages suitable to your taste such as tea, coffee, and fruit juice in cafes you will see throughout the route.

There is an entry fee to Zelve Open Air Museum and Pasabaglari Archeological Site; both can be visited with a single ticket. The museum card is valid at archeological sites.

The route passes by grocery stores and markets where you can find water frequently.

You may need a bicycle lock while visiting the archeological sites.
