Ortahisar – Ürgüp

Characteristics of the Route:

The route starts in Ortahisar Castle, where steep stairs offer an exciting view. The route starts from the castle, passes by İshak Pasha Castle Panorama point, a popular destination for photography tours, and starts descending to Urgup with a gentle slope. Following the view of Nevsehir made of volcanic ash, the path meets with a lush dirt road around Urgup. The route goes among poplar and willow trees, crosses the asphalt road, and reaches the city center.

Notes to Travelers:

There is an entry fee to Ortahisar Castle, the museum card is not valid.

You can try delicious menus of restaurants with different styles in Ortahisar and Urgup.

If you are hiking in early spring, you can see Thymus cappadocicus, one of the endemic plants of Cappadocia, Moltkia coerulea (mavi kesen), and Lamium orientale (guzelce) flowers.  

Make sure your water bottle is full as you won't find water on the route.

You can visit Kilicaslan Gazi Tomb on Temenni Tepesi and enjoy the view at the cafe next to it.
