Hacı Bektaş Veli Commemorations
Hacı Bektaş Veli, who had a significant influence on the spread of the Turks to Anatolia and is revered today, becomes the center of attention every year; local and foreign tourists coming to the region visit various places in the district and are considered sacred and experience a spiritual experience.
Perforated Stone Attracts Everyone's Attention
Visits to places considered sacred in the region, such as events organized as part of the commemorations of Hacı Bektaş Veli, are also very diverse. Tourists attending the event definitely visit the cave where Hacı Bektaş Veli retreats and performs his worship. There is a very iconic section in the cave. It is believed that those who have sins cannot pass through this section, known as the Perforated Stone, and even gives the cave its name. Therefore, each visitor tries to pass through the perforated stone, which is considered a ritual.
Perforated Stone is located 3 kilometers east of the Hacı Bektaş district. The perforated stone cave on a sloping hill is also known as "Çilehane." It is believed that the area, considered a temple of purification from sin, is sacred. It is also quite possible to find that those who visit the region perform various rituals, not only within the scope of commemorations but also those who fall into the perforated stone cave during a visit to Cappadocia pray for the realization of their wishes in the region and make offerings by placing stones on top of each other.
Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Complex is Worth Seeing
For those who have finished the cave trip and the Perforated Stone experience, it is time for new discoveries. Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli complex, the pir House of Bektaş-i, is one of the rare cult complexes that have been transferred to the present day and is shown among the essential works of Turkish architecture. Although there is no accurate information about the date of construction of different parts of the complex, the cluster of Rasul Bali, located adjacent to the eastern wall of the Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Mausoleum and opened towards Kırklar Square, is considered to be one of the oldest units of the complex.
It can be clearly stated that the Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli tomb, located about 45 kilometers from Nevşehir province, is of great importance to Muslims. The mausoleum also has a special place in terms of being the center where Bektashism spreads worldwide. The eternal rest and the Hacı Bektaş Museum are in the mausoleum. Nadar courtyard, Dergah courtyard, and Hazrat courtyard, such as sections of the structure in each part of the historical artifacts worth seeing are located.
Hacı Bektaş Veli tomb and Hacı Bektaş Museum can be visited free of charge. We recommend that those who want to witness history and go on a spiritual journey visit these destinations in Cappadocia every season of the year.
